Farmer who wants wife once Married At First Sight

Lachlan McAleer, from south-west Sydney, who appeared on Married At First Sight, is looking for romance in another reality series, but he’s also after a change of lifestyle. ‘Ex-wife’ Clare won’t be too impressed.

A CAMDEN farmer set to star in the latest series of Farmer Wants A Wife may win a wife in the forthcoming TV series but it seems he’s destined to shed a farm in the process.

A week before the Nine Network’s new reality series premieres, beef cattle and hay farmer Lachlan McAleer’s 500-acre farm has been put on the market.

McAleer controversially signed up to be one of six eligible farmers looking for love on the ninth series of the popular TV show.

Trouble is, he is also a former star of Nine’s matchmaking TV series Married At First Sight. It seems he doesn’t mind the glare of the spotlight.

On Married At First Sight, McAleer — who also once appeared on an episode of MasterChef in 2010 — won the heart of marketing manager Clare Tamas, from whom he is now separated.

Tamas told a magazine last year that McAleer “quickly departed after the last cameras, with
no word” when the program wrapped.

She added, commenting on promos for the new show: “It is ironic that he gets the title of the heartbroken rather than heartbreaker.”

Nine’s reps were uncontactable yesterday to address Confidential’s questions about their serial romancer and concerns their farmer may also soon be in want of a farm.

McAleer’s property, for sale through McGraths, includes a four-bedroom house and is billed as a holding with “immense future potential”.
