Three years after her stint on Married At First Sight, Davina Rankin is at the top of her game following the release of her very first children’s book Empowered Moo.
Despite choosing to live life out of the spotlight since the show, Rankin, 29, has developed a large fan base and her new book about children’s affirmations sold out within the first few hours of its release.
“The stock that I bought I thought would last me six months and it sold out in the first two hours!” Rankin said from her home in Brisbane.
“It was a thought that came to me during COVID and I thought it would be a cute idea. Literally from the beginning to the end, I was winging it. When you doubt yourself, that’s the killer of all dreams. I kept winging it and it really paid off and I’m really proud of it.”
Rankin, who has a 15-month-old daughter Mila Mae with her partner Jaxon Manuel, said affirmations have had a positive impact on her life which inspired her to write the book.
“I just thought, affirmations have always played a really big part in my life, just for helping with stress and anxiety and putting myself in a positive mindset for the day,” she said.
“Reading positive affirmations with your children is super powerful, especially when it’s mummy and daddy reading - kids really do absorb the words.”
Rankin, also a personal trainer and an event manager, said motherhood completely changed her life for the better.
“It’s been an absolute whirlwind,” she said.
“It’s a complete turnaround from my life before Mila, so it’s definitely an adjustment but the best adjustment ever. We got really lucky with her, she sleeps well and eats well … she’s just been a dream baby for us.”
As for wedding plans and another baby, Rankin said she and her boyfriend of three years are in no rush.
“We definitely speak about [getting engaged] … It’s not a massive deal for us. It’s not a make or break for me, I’m really happy with where we are and when that happens it will be the cherry on the cake,” she said.
“Right now I’m happy just focusing on [Mila-Mae] and giving her the best start of life as possible but you never know.”
