Erin Molan and her family say they have been “heartened” by the public’s support since revealing patriarch, Senator Jim Molan, had been suffering from an aggressive form of cancer.
The Molan family took to Instagram to thank the thousands of people who have supported them over the last few days.
“We wish to express heartfelt thanks for the thousands of messages conveying good wishes, thoughts and prayers we have received in the past few days,” the Molan family statement said.
“Along with Jim, we have been particularly heartened and inspired by those who have shared their own personal cancer experience with us.”
“We thank every single person who has reached out. We are overwhelmingly grateful for your kindness.”
The note was signed from Molan’s wife Anne, as well as their children Sarah, Erin, Felicity and Mick.
Molan, who is a presenter on the 2DayFM morning breakfast show team, has been off air this week due to a survey break.
“While the news has come as a shock, I have many reasons to be positive,” the 70-year-old said.
“I’ve never been afraid to fight the battles that need fighting, and this is no exception.”
It is not the family’s first shock cancer diagnosis, with Molan’s sister Sarah diagnosed with bowel cancer when she was 33.
She now lives cancer free but Molan has since become a big supporter of bowel cancer charities.
Earlier this year she told Stellar on Friday the work she did for those charities was among her “proudest achievements.”
