AUSSIE beauty queen Erin Holland has landed a major TV hosting gig that will see her broadcast to more than one billion people.
The former Miss World Australia, singer and entertainer will anchor Star India’s Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket coverage over the coming months.
“When I am not anchoring the pre-game, halftime and post-game shows from the studio, they’ll have me stadium side as a roving reporter, or compiling lifestyle stories about the fans and the atmosphere of the IPL. I will be bringing people closer to their favourite players,” Holland told The Sunday Telegraph.
She will present her first game at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, which will be between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Daredevils.
Holland has dated Australian cricketer Ben Cutting, who plays for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, for the last three years.
“I grew up around cricket,” Holland, 29, said. “It has been my favourite sport since I was a kid but, of course, I’ve been brushing up and researching all the teams and players so I’m on top of my game.”
Holland, who grew up in Cairns and splits her time between Sydney and Brisbane, will be seen on the channel alongside cricket commentators including Michael Clarke, Kevin Pietersen and Brett Lee.
The IPL broadcast is shown locally in Australia on Fox Sports, which on Friday announced a landmark six-year deal with Cricket Australia.
Fox Sports and Channel Seven together are now the home of Aussie cricket, having snatched the rights from Ten and Nine.
“It is a pinch me moment in my career,” Holland said, “an absolute dream come true.”
