Erin Holland becomes one of Australia’s busiest sports presenters
Former Miss World Australia Erin Holland is a classically trained singer who is now one of our busiest TV sports presenters, with an audience that reaches into the millions.
If you told Erin Holland a decade ago that she would be covering sports events across the globe in 2019, she wouldn’t have believed it.
The former Miss World Australia is a classically trained singer who is now one of our busiest TV sports presenters. Most of her work though so far has been overseas.
“I was studying classical voice at the Sydney Conservatorium so I’d never have thought I’d be doing sport,” she told Confidential. “I was however always a genuine lover of live sport and watched a lot of it growing up. I never thought I would be on TV presenting it but it doesn’t surprise me that sport is a huge part of my life.”
Holland, who dates cricketer Ben Cutting, flew to Bangladesh at the weekend and will spend the next fortnight working hosting the Bangamata under 19 Women’s International Gold Cup from there.
The gig follows a six week stint in Dubai and Pakistan where she hosted the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and last year she was part of the presenting team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) based out of Mumbai.
The Bangamata event will be broadcast to millions of viewers with a six team competition including Bangladesh, Laos, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates.
The competition is broadcast to 80 countries globally.
“It is women’s football,” she said. “I’ve been brushing up on my soccer. I grew up on the game thanks to my dad and my brother; when they weren’t playing cricket, they were playing or watching football. And I played a bit when I was younger so it is a sport I know and love.”
