Engagement off: Former NRL star Braith Anasta and Rachael Lee have officially broken up

The former NRL star shut down the rumour mill months ago, calling his break-up a ‘tough period’. Now Confidential can confirm Braith Anasta and fiancee Rachael Lee have split.

The rumours are true: Former NRL player Braith Anasta and his fiancee Rachael Lee have called off their engagement.

Confidential can confirm the couple, who said they were taking some time out from their six-year relationship in September, had actually broken up.

Amid swirling rumours of a split two months ago, Anasta, 40, took to social media to insist he was still partnered with Lee.

“Like most couples, we are going through a tough period,” the former Sydney Roosters, Canterbury Bulldogs and Wests Tigers player said.

Anasta insisted they remained together, but were “trying to work through this for us, and more importantly for our beautiful family and our amazing children”.

However, Confidential is told when Anasta made this statement to his Instagram stories, he and Lee had already parted ways and were living separately, while continuing to co-parent their three children.

The popular couple started dating in 2016 and had daughter, Gigi, in 2018.

Anasta has an eight-year-old daughter, Aleeia, with ex-wife Jodi Gordon, whom he broke up with in 2015.

Lee has Addison, 11, also from a previous relationship.

Anasta was first linked to Lee — then a Bondi-based personal trainer — in April 2016, four months after his divorce from Gordon.

They got engaged in 2019 but their wedding plans were delayed by the pandemic.

A source close to the couple said the chief concern for both parents, who live in Coogee, is keeping their three children together and happy.

Co-parenting is something both parties have done before, and are deeply committed to.

Anasta and Lee put on a united front in August, still meeting commitments to attend the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation’s annual Melanoma High Tea. Although Lee, 33, was spotted in Sydney without her engagement ring.

Newly single Lee was spotted trick-or-treating with her kids in Sydney over the weekend, without Anasta.
