Edelstens’ breakup is getting ugly: Geoffrey accuses Gabi for faking pregnancy and miscarriage
AS the relationship between Geoffrey Edelsten and his third wife Gabi Grecko festers following their latest break-up, Edelsten has accused Grecko of faking a pregnancy and miscarriage.
AS the relationship between Geoffrey Edelsten and his third wife Gabi Grecko festers following their latest breakup (or possibly just their latest grab for headlines), Edelsten has accused Grecko of faking a pregnancy and miscarriage just weeks after the pair were married.
But Grecko has returned serve, accusing Edelsten of trying to make people hate her.
Edelsten yesterday said Grecko was relocating to New York following the couple’s messy and protracted separation. “I’m done,” he said. “We’re divorcing. The whole pregnancy was false.”
On June 11, Grecko, 26, and Edelsten, 72, married at a Melbourne registry office just hours before her visa was due to expire. Four days later, Grecko revealed she was pregnant by posting a picture of a positive pregnancy test to Instagram. Later that day she told Triple M she was “three or four weeks” pregnant and her baby, whom she hoped would be a boy she could call Geoffrey II, was due in February. Edelsten, she added, “seemed really happy”.
A week later, on June 21, she was in Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital and telling media she had fallen down stairs after taking pain medication for endometriosis — and denying she’d created the drama to satisfy social media demand.
“I would never do this for a stunt. I think that’s a horrible thing to say,” she said.
On June 23, Grecko asked followers to “pray for what’s been lost” after posting an image of a baby with wings and captioning it “I’ve created an angel”. She later told media she had suffered a miscarriage.
Yesterday Edelsten said: “The whole thing was completely fabricated to get attention from me after we had a fight.
“(Gabi’s) state of mind is that she needs more psychiatric help which she is receiving in New York.
“She put images of a fake pregnancy test on her social media and insisted we were having a child and, against my better judgment, I agreed to go along with it, I now regret that wholeheartedly.”
