The youngest son of Uncle Toby’s ironman legend Grant and Olympic swimmer Lisa has been putting in the hard yards on and off the dance floor.
His days see him racing numerous events at the annual Aussies on the Gold Coast before heading into the dance studio for a rigorous five hours of practice.
And while he’s made the top five of the popular TV show dancing with
Lily Cornish, Kenny, 24, is clear which area is more his natural habitat.
“It’s taken me out of my comfort zone,” Kenny said of his dancing.
“When I broke my collarbone last year that threw a spanner in the works for my surf life saving so I was looking for something different, something I have never done before.
“I do find it difficult, mentally and emotionally. The physical side is fine though.
“So if you ask me which is harder for me it’s definitely dancing over surf and ironman.
“Dancing is 80 per event about performance and acting and I don’t really have that.
“I also still get really nervous. Far more nervous than I do before a race.”
Kenny said dance partner Cornish has been watching some of his races inbetween choreographing their dance routines for the show.
Kenny is doing the show to raise money for his good friend, surf lifesaver Jessica Collins who suffered a serious spinal injury in a surfing accident on the Gold Coast last year.
