Divorce settlement all but done for Tim and Emma Steel

The marriage breakdown was messy, however Sunday Confidential can reveal millionaire neurosurgeon Tim Steel and his ex-wife Emma Steel’s divorce settlement is all but done.

The breakdown of their high-profile 11-year marriage was messy, however, Sunday Confidential can reveal millionaire neurosurgeon Tim Steel and his ex-wife Emma Steel’s divorce settlement is all but done.

Tim Steel first hit the headlines in 2005 when he was charged by police with a dangerous drug possession after being caught with a bag of cocaine at a Surfers Paradise nightclub, resulting in him being suspended from his practice at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital. While Dr Steel entered a plea of guilty to the charge, he escaped a criminal record but was directed to attend a drug assessment and education program on the Gold Coast.

The socialite surgeon was again temporarily suspended from practice after being charged with a string of charges alleging domestic violence against his former wife.

Dr Steel, who had a $23 million property portfolio, was accused of punching, slapping and kicking Ms Steel the morning after a Christmas party in 2019.

Magistrate Vivien Swain found there were inconsistencies in the former model’s version of events, ruling that Dr Steel had acted in self defence.

Ms Steel, who has two daughters with Dr Steel, also alleged financial abuse and accused Dr Steel of having an affair with his receptionist.

But after a high-profile trial in the Downing Centre, during which he categorically denied being unfaithful and evidence was heard that Ms Steel treated her ex-husband like “a walking ATM”, Dr Steel beat the charges and was permitted to return to his practice as a neurosurgeon.

Several years on, both parties appear to have moved on with their lives and are reportedly close to finalising their divorce.

Emma, now single, who has all but disappeared from the Sydney social scene to support the 14-year-old daughter she shares with Dr Steel, who is believed to have a prodigious talent in showjumping.

The stunning former model has swapped her stilettos for riding boots, with a source close to the family confirming that Emma spends “literally every waking hour” supporting her eldest daughter, who trains five days a week with her two horses who are attended upon three times a day in preparation for weekend competitions.

Savannah placed second in the children’s division of the World Cup in Tamworth last month.

“Emma is so incredibly proud of Savannah’s achievements and is passionately devoted to her endeavours. Savannah’s success has been a much-welcomed focus for her and her girls after a harrowing couple of years.”
