Dani Venn is out of MasterChef and says she has one regret

MasterChef’s Dani Venn has been eliminated from the show despite having an immunity pin, leaving her disappointed in herself.

Despite being eliminated while still holding her immunity pin on Sunday night’s episode of Masterchef, Dani Venn said she felt like it was worth having a go.

The mother-of-two took a risk and backed herself but sadly, the gamble didn’t pay off and she told Confidential she’s disappointed.

“It’s a little bit devastating,” Venn said.

“I don’t think I have any regrets, I mean obviously looking back you go ‘why wouldn’t I use that?’ But at the same time I’m like, I didn’t use it for a reason. I needed to back myself. I just felt like it was worth putting my hat in the ring and having a crack.”

Venn, 34, landed in the bottom two after serving undercooked eggs with Thai chilli jam.

“Hindsight’s a wonderful thing. I tell you, what I regret is not making a crispier dish,” she said.

“That’s probably my one regret, more so than not using the pin. I had a few dishes going around in my head at the time and I did have a really crunchy dish in mind ... maybe I should’ve made a better decision.”

Earlier this week, fans watched as Venn broke down in tears during the mystery box challenge and she said being away from her daughter Harlow, 5, and son, Oscar 2, triggered her emotional outburst.

“I think after a few weeks of leaving your family and going back into the MasterChef world (which is obviously incredibly exciting), the novelty can wear off a little bit,” she said.

“I missed my kids so much so the pressure did start to take a toll.

“Yeah I think, missing kids is obviously a big one and also being hard on myself. I think I put a lot of pressure on myself especially coming into the kitchen and winning the first challenge and getting the only immunity pin ... my expectation for myself was really high.”

Venn first appeared on TV screens on season 3 where she placed 4th.
