‘Couldn’t ask for more’: Sam Burgess celebrates 31st birthday with his children

Former Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess celebrated his 31st birthday with family and friends on Saturday.
After what has no doubt been a stressful year, the father-of-two thanked his supporters in a heartfelt Instagram post alongside photos with his two children — one-year-old Billy Mark and Poppy Alice, who turns three next month.
“Couldn’t ask for more. What a way to bring in 31, thanks everyone for your kind messages. Ate far too much chocolate cake but what a day. #silverfox #fambam,” he wrote.
It comes after his second split from his estranged wife Phoebe in October.
Burgess moved out of the family’s $3.8 million Maroubra home, where Phoebe and the kids have remained.
Burgess has since been linked to American waitress Oak Schuetz and Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power, however he denied romance rumours with both women.
“To all South Sydney members and fans, fans of the game and even the supporters that aren’t my biggest fans, I’d like to thank each and every one of you for making my career what it was in the NRL,” he previously wrote in a statement.
“I have loved absolutely every minute; the highs, the lows; the Grand Final; coming home; my injuries; my dates with the judiciary. It really has been a fantastic ride.
“I am no longer able to be myself day in, day out on the training field and consequently the playing field.
“I will not be playing in the NRL next season. My time has come to an end. I’m excited for my next chapter in life whatever that may be.”
