Chris Hemsworth picks up Mexican backpacker on way to Byron Bay in his chopper
AUSSIE superstar Chris Hemsworth surprised a hitchhiking Mexican backpacker with a lift on Sunday — in his chopper — as he headed home to Byron Bay from Brisbane. On Monday the actor was snapped surfing the waves at Byron with wife Elsa Pataky.

HE was catching a wave on Monday at Byron Bay but the day before Chris Hemsworth offered a hitchhiking backpacker a lift — in his helicopter.
The Thor star was in Brisbane when his crew picked up Mexican backpacker Scott Hildebrand who was heading for Hemsworth’s home town of Byron Bay.
Chris Hemsworth was catching a wave yesterday at Byron Bay with his wife Elsa Pataky.
But the day before the Hollywood star was offered a hitchhiking backpacker a lift — in a private helicopter.
The avid surfer was in Brisbane when his crew picked up Mexican backpacker Scott Hildebrand who had decided to try his luck hitchhiking from Brisbane Airport.
Hemsworth was with his personal trainer Luke Zocchi who started in a film the star’s encounter when they picked him up on the side of the road.
“We’re going to Byron, we’ll give him a lift,” Hemsworth said.
“Little does he know we’re getting a chopper,” Zocchi continued.
They then switched vehicles into a helicopter where the backpacker got the surprise of his life.
“All of a sudden we pull up to the helipad. They’re like ‘ever flown in a helicopter Scotty?’ and I couldn’t believe it and that’s when I was like ‘who are you guys?,” Hildebrand told Nova.
“Luke was like ‘that’s Chris Hemsworth, Thor’ And I was like ‘what?’ I couldn’t believe it.”
Hemsworth returned to Australia last week after filming a Men in Black remake in Italy.
He has lived in Byron Bay since 2014 and is known to the locals as being a regular surfer.
Hemsworth was seen emerging from the water with wife Spanish actor Elsa Pataky.
