THE two day wedding extravaganza continued for newlyweds Ryan Stokes and Claire Campbell yesterday with the Seven group CEO and his new wife celebrating their nuptials with a morning after party.
Stokes, 40 and his shoe heiress bride invited family and friends to Kerry Stokes’ harbour front home in Glanworth to continue the exclusive wedding which was attended by Sydney’s elite.
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and her partner David Panton, former PM Tony Abbott and his wife Margie and Justin Hemmes and his partner Kate Fowler were among the hundred plus guests who made their way to the Eastern Suburbs home where they reminisced about the night before and were treated to catering by celebrated chef Guillaume Brahimi.
“It was such a wonderful and moving ceremony,” a family friend told The Sunday Telegraph.
“It is very clear the couple are devoted to each other.”
The daytime knees-up comes after around 130 guests witnessed the couple tie the knot by the Harbour at Sydney’s Garden Island naval base on Friday afternoon in 35 degree temperatures.
A chartered boat decked out in white balloons carried guests including Stokes’ best man, Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg, his groomsmen Bryant Stokes and Campbell’s bridesmaids, Casey George-Jolson, Sally Pitt, Amelia Beau and Jane Henry to the exclusive harbourside venue where the couple tied the knot.
Flanked by her four best friends, Campbell took Stokes’ hand in marriage wearing an understated nude embellished capped-sleeve dress by an Australian designer, while her husband opted for a black dinner suit which he paired with a white shirt and matching bow tie.
Yesterday’s function was the third official wedding event for the newlyweds, who also threw a secret pre-wedding party for around 60 friends and family at Campbell’s family home on Stradbroke Island two weeks ago.
The Sunday Telegraph revealed the pair became engaged on a West Australian beach in June, six months after the couple went public with their relationship at the Prime Minister’s Christmas drinks.
Campbell, 30, is a director of Brisbane family shoe emporium Maryon’s Shoes, named after her semi-retired mother Maryon Campbell who opened and ran a chain of five shoe stores.
