IT seems Channel 10 are already changing the rules to suit new celebrity Bachelorette Sophie Monk.
The Network confirmed Monk as this year’s leading lady on April 23, on the eve of the Logies, just nine days after Confidential revealed she met with producers to pitch herself for the reality show.
Confidential understands executives brought forward the announcement from the planned date in order to contain rumours around Monk’s involvement.
The network now gets to control the Queenslander’s public appearances, recently turning down a photoshoot with her family on the Gold Coast.
In a first for the reality show, the early announcement came before casting was finalised, meaning the suitors will be aware whose heart they are trying to win.
It is understood last year’s The Bachelor runner-up Nikki Gogan was still in talks with producers this year to be the new Bachelorette, but she had been hesitant to take on the role.
When Monk put her name into the ring, producers jumped on the opportunity.
An insider told Confidential the network was confident she would be a ratings smash hit.
