CHANNEL 10’s glam go-to sports gal Mel McLaughlin remains a hard woman to pin down, with her enviable calendar of hosting engagements this year for the network.

Shaking off the jet lag from Glasgow, where she ­anchored the Commonwealth Games coverage, she dives back into fronting the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships on Ten from Thursday night (7.30pm).

While she’ll get little sympathy from sports fans who are green-eyed about her ­bucket list of work assignments, the 34-year-old has been trying to get back to full speed after contracting dengue fever when she was in Rio for the World Cup.

The nasty virus can fell ­lesser people, but not McLaughlin, who refused to be sidelined by the illness, when producers considered benching her for the Games.

“It was just a dodgy Brazilian mozzie and I wasn’t going to let that stop me,” she says. “You just come back, get over the jet lag and get back into it.”

Taking the international experience in her stride, she teams with Liesl Jones, Mark Howard, Lachy Reid and ­Nicole Livingstone for all the pool action, which includes the 100m freestyle rematch between James Magnussen and Cameron McEvoy, as well as the comeback of US champ, Michael Phelps.
