Calls for diet changes to protect the planet

She’s the secret weapon who is keeping Channel 7’s on-air talent looking their best.

Celebrity nutritionist Sarah Di Lorenzo is the name behind a string of makeovers at the television network.

But the 49-year-old mother of three does not believe in a quick fix.

She said the only way to lose weight and keep it off was old fashioned hard work.

Di Lorenzo speaks from experience and has a strong stable of celebrity clients which includes Sunrise host Natalie Barr and her Weekend Sunrise colleague Monique Wright.

“Anyone can lose weight, you just go into a deficit for a period of time but there is no quick fix, this is long term. I am after losing weight and keeping it off for life,” Di Lorenzo told The Daily Telegraph.

“If you are after a quick fix, it is a shortsighted decision because you are not learning to change the eating habits that got you into the overweight state in the first place. Quick fixes do not work.”

Di Lorenzo is known around the corridors of Channel 7’s Martin Place headquarters as somewhat of a guru because her programs have worked with some of the most popular faces on TV dropping weight and keeping it off.

Others go to her for help detoxing with Di Lorenzo’s other clients including Seven presenters Sally Bowrey and Matt Doran, who she recently helped shed 18kg.

“I want to get people off the diet merry-go-round,” she said.

Her book, The 10:10 Diet: The Healthy Way To Lose 10 Kilos in 10 Weeks was released this month.

“I have a much more complex approach,” she explained.

Di Lorenzo’s approach is simple. Having maintained the same weight for most of her adult life, her program is low carbohydrate and lean protein while including fruit daily and some complex carbs “that will still put the body into a ketogenic state (fat burning)”
