Even if the verdict goes her way, Sarah Budge’s career as a commercial model has taken a hit.

The jury is still deliberating over her fate, but fashion insiders have said that Budge’s modelling career has been put on pause until her highly publicised court case is resolved.

Prior to pleading not guilty to three weapons charges, after police found a defaced Glock 26 pistol and a magazine loaded with 16 bullets in her Double Bay unit in August 2017, Budge was a successful model with top modelling agency Chic Management.

Budge, who dates Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim, is represented by Chic’s commercial agency Scoop and while her agent refused to comment on Budge’s time as a model, industry insiders have said her recent court appearance has hurt her career.

“Sarah’s modelling career came to a screeching halt once the allegations came to light,” one insider said.

“Which is a shame because Sarah is a super hard worker and a really well-liked and respected model. Clients always said she was incredibly beautiful, a hard worker, she always delivered and was not complicated. She had a good work ethic.”

Until the charges, Budge was working as a commercial model, which is often more lucrative than runway and editorial work.

“From a commercial sense, she had a lot of clients and was on a real roll,” one source said.

“She was really busy. Among her big clients were Rockmans. She did a couple of television campaigns and campaigns for Jets Swimwear. Commercial work is more consistent and can be quite lucrative. She was starting to really pick up a lot of traction.”

Sunday Confidential understands Budge initially struggled to make her mark as a model and is believed to have had something of a make-under when she started out.

“She needed some grooming,” another source said.

“But she understood what was required of her to improve her look and the way she presented herself, and she changed.”
