IT is the one time a year she gets to publicly outshine her husband but Ana Calle isn’t having a bar of it.
The wife of Swans star player Josh Kennedy says her husband should be the main focus when the pair walk the red carpet at Monday’s Brownlow Medal in Melbourne.
“It is more about supporting Josh, to be a part of his happiness,” Calle said, posing exclusively for The Daily Telegraph in designer Con Ilio at the SCG yesterday.
“It is a great opportunity to dress up and change the routine but it should be more about the guys, it is important to let them have their night.”
Calle and Kennedy are parents to one-year-old son, Emelio.
Kennedy finished fourth in last year’s Brownlow, attracting more votes than any other Swans player.
He is expected to poll well again in 2016 after another sensational year, capped off by a massive performance against the Crows last week at the SCG to help guide the Swans into the preliminary against Geelong on Friday.
When contacted yesterday, Kennedy’s mind was firmly on his game.
“We’ve got bigger things to worry about to be honest so it is really secondary at the moment when we are still playing finals,” he said of his Brownlow chances. “When it comes around, it is nice to be a part of it but other than that I don’t give it too much thought to be honest.”
Kennedy, 28, tipped Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield to take out the award.
“Dangerfield has got it wrapped up, he is having an outstanding season.”
Of his wife and dressing up for the red carpet, he added: “I absolutely love seeing her dressed up, she is stunning. And for me, it is nice to put on a suit occasionally.”
