He is already had a tough few months, and matters don’t seem to be improving for radio King Alan Jones.

BMW was a sponsor of the regular segment ‘Listener of the week’ which was exclusively heard on Jones’ breakfast show.

As of last week, the sponsored spot has moved to Hadley’s morning show for the first time.

2GB would not comment on the segment’s change in timeslot.

“As BMW’s advertising plans are commercial in confidence, we won’t be providing any comment,” National Executive Producer of Macquarie Media Limited, Michael Thompson said.

Hadley also wouldn’t comment, telling Confidential “I am not authorised to comment on sponsorships you’d need to speak to management.”

The news comes as Jones’ on-air future is said to be in doubt, following a string of controversies in recent months and a costly legal loss in September, which saw The Macquarie Media board ordered to pay Queensland’s biggest defamation payout of $3.75 million to the Wagner family.

Punters urged the luxury car brand to stop supporting Jones earlier this year, following his on-air use of the racist phrase “n——r in the woodpile” in reaction to the Liberal leadership turmoil which resulted in the sacking of Malcolm Turnbull.

In 2012, brands including Freedom Furniture, Mercedes-Benz and Woolworths suspended ads from the program following Jones’ “died of shame” comments regarding Julia Gillard’s father.

Jones’ current contract is said to be worth $4.5 million a year and expires at the end of next June.

BMW did not respond to Confidential’s call for comment.
