Bindi Irwin has paid tribute to her late father Steve Irwin on the 15th anniversary of his death.
The 23-year-old revealed that her six-month-old daughter Grace Warrior “lights up” when she sees The Crocodile Hunter on screen and said she believes that he’s her daughter’s guardian angel.
“This sweetheart lights up seeing her ‘Grandpa Crocodile’ on screen,” she wrote on Instagram ahead of Father’s Day.
“I wish that Dad could hug my beautiful girl. It’s been 15 years since he passed away. I hold on to the thought that he’s her guardian angel now, watching over the most special part of my life, Grace.”
Irwin tragically died in 2006 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb.
The message comes after Bindi, who shares baby Grace with her American husband Chandler Powell, took a break from social media in June when a family feud with her 82-year-old grandfather Bob was revealed.
She previously shared a touching tribute to the “three most incredible fathers in my life” - Irwin, Powell and her father-in-law in honour of Father’s Day in the US.
She did not include her grandfather, who she claimed has “shown no interest” in having a relationship with the family. The exclusion drew mixed reactions at the time.
It was later claimed that her grandfather Bob, who is the father of late Crocodile Hunter Irwin, was “hurt” after she aired grievances on social media.
