Three new food openings in a week see the suburb of Bondi once again challenge to become the best food precinct in Sydney.

The beachside suburb has always been a hub for foodies, however in recent years has been challenged by a host of food precincts and eat streets across Sydney.

Now, a decade from when it first opened it’s famous red door on Hall St, Da Orazio will open again to customers on Wednesday.

Restaurateur and celebrated chef Orazio D’Elia is bringing back the Italian hotspot as well as opening a new side bar, Orazietto.

D’Elia originally sold Da Orazio, to restaurateur and Bondi icon Maurice Terzini when he left to open Matteo in Double Bay in 2018. Terzini then turned it into CicciaBella, which also has outposts in Parramatta.

However last year D’Elia sold his stake in Matteo and renegotiated with Terzini to buy back the Hall Street property.

“In Italian we say, ‘il primo amore non si scorda mai’ which means the first love you never forget. Da Orazio was my first born, my first love, so to be able to bring the venue back to life means so much to me and my team. I can’t wait for all our Da Orazio friends to return, and welcome new friends”, said D’Elia.

Meanwhile on Campbell Parade, the team behind one of the CBD’s most talked about venues, Shell House, will open Topikos Dining Room and Bar. Topikos means ‘the local” in Greek is in the space of Bondi Public Dining Bar and while not open till April, the team have opened up their bookings this week.

Bondi will also have a new brewery, with Curly Lewis Brewing Co set to open soon on Campbell Street.

This is on top of the venues that have already opened in the area this year.

The boys behind Cronulla icon Blackwood Pantry opened up their Bondi outpost, Blackwood Bondi, this month.

Tiki Bar and Hawaiian steakhouse on Campbell Parade, Scallywaggs, which has a paradise-inspired cocktail list and plenty of oysters and ceviche, opened at the end of last year.
