Tim Robards says his days as a topless waiter and undies model gave him the confidence to feel comfortable in a room full of people.
Robards, 38, worked in the bar, club and events industry as a topless waiter in his early 20s, long before he appeared as The Bachelor and found love with wife Anna Heinrich.

“It was a great way to learn how to walk in to a room and be a gentleman and have to talk and make the guests feel comfortable, whether I was in an outfit or not wearing a shirt, it was about making the guests feel welcome,” Robards told Confidential. “Those skills prep you to start a conversation and be comfortable in a room full of people, which helps in a lot of different situations now. Those life lessons are important. Although being a topless waiter has other connotations, it actually teaches you life lessons that are good in many ways.”
Robards posed for Confidential to launch the limited edition Piper-Heidsieck Prohibition bottle in Australia, marking 100 years since the prohibition era.
Additionally, the special edition gift box features a QR code that transports consumers back to the 1920s with a film that brings the bootleg process from Reims to the US speak-easies to life.
Robards and Heinrich are on the home stretch counting down to the arrival of their first child, a baby girl, together.
“It is pretty much imminent,” he said. “It is really surreal, I am sure it will kick in once she is out but at the moment it still seems so far yet it is so close.”
