WHEN Aloe Blacc claims to have an Australian connection, he really means it.

The international chart topping singer is married to former Triple J radio announcer and Channel V presenter Maya Jupiter and the couple have two young kids, a three-month-old son named Satya and a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter named Mandela.

With his family, the I Need A Dollar singer visits Sydney at least once a year and feel its important their children feel connected here.

“We love being here and coming back, it is a refreshing homecoming sense,” Blacc told Confidential.

“We are flirting with the idea of kind of globe trotting for a bit when the kids are older and easier to manage when travelling so we can get that fresh feeling every three months in a new city but always coming back to Sydney of course because we have family and so much of her history here.”

Blacc, 37, started as an indie artist and broke through internationally with his global smash hit, I Need A Dollar.

He was nominated for a Grammy in 2014 for his album, Lift Your Spirit, and his Avicii collaboration, Wake Me Up, sat at number one on the Australian chart for six weeks.

His song, The Man, was also a huge international hit and was picked up to promote Beats By Dre.

Blacc and Zedd performed their new track, Candyman, at the prestigious Coachella Music Festival in Palm Springs this month. Candyman has been used by M&Ms to mark its 75th anniversary.

“Having success outside of the US is pretty special because you get to touch the world in a different way,” he said.

“But it is different here because I also get to be like an honorary Australian. When I am here, it is family, they’re not trying to give me the kushy experience so I get to feel that normalcy of life. It is also nice that I can perform on TV and be on the radio here.”

Jupiter moved to the United States about eight years ago and married Blacc in 2010.

She’s continued to work on her own music over there and Blacc produced her last album.

“I haven’t been on his album yet, I haven’t been allowed to do that,” she joked. “But he’s definitely on my work.”

In response, Blacc is currently working on his fourth studio album and said he would consider his wife contributing.

“I’m pretty stingy with my albums, I don’t really do guest appearances and features but you know what, I will think about this and try to find a place for my lovely wife,” he said.
