Supermodel Adut Akech has splashed out $3.7 million ($2.8 million US) on a sprawling property in Los Angeles.

The 21-year-old, who arrived in Australia as a South Sudanese child refugee over a decade ago, was overcome with emotion after purchasing what is now her fifth home in L.A.’s Studio City neighbourhood this week

The four bedroom house boasts five bathrooms and a spacious outdoor entertainment area complete with an infinity pool and spa.

At 3000 sqft, the newly constructed home is described as an “entertainer’s dream house” and features high ceilings, floating stairs and state of the art appliances.

“I DID IT, I BOUGHT MY FIRST HOUSE in America!!!!! I’m usually quiet about personal things like this, I just be moving in silence but this one is TOO big of an achievement and proud moment for me to not share with the world,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I cannot believe that at 21 years old I’m a proud owner of 5 HOUSE!!! [SIC] ... I’m so bloody PROUD of myself for staying focused and working my a** off to get here. I remind myself every single day how extremely BLESSED and FORTUNATE I am and for that I’m beyond GRATEFUL to God, my family, to the people in my life that courage [SIC] me to keep pushing.”

Born in South Sudan and raised in a refugee camp in Kenya, Akech was just 7 when she moved to Adelaide with her family.

She began modelling at age 16 after signing with Chadwick Models in Sydney before making her mark overseas with countless Vogue covers and fashion campaigns with the likes of Chanel and Alexander McQueen.

She counts supermodel Naomi Campbell among her mentors.

In 2018, she was named Model of the Year by members of the fashion industry, beating Gigi Hadid for the coveted title and is one of Australia’s most in demand models.

“The award is bigger than a title in this industry,” she previously told Confidential.

“It is for refugees all around the world who are in a tough position and feel like there is no way out. It’s for little girls and boys who are unheard, for women and men all around the world who have found representation and validation in the work that I do. So, it is definitely bigger than me. I just spoke my truth and who can tell me no, what I was saying was wrong? Nobody. That is the beauty of having an opportunity to be able to stand in front of a group of people and say what you really want to say.”
