Amber Sherlock and Julie Snook video: Who leaked the footage of the Nine presenters?

A TV insider has revealed that the Nine Network will today be hunting down the person responsible for leaking that embarrassing video of Amber Sherlock.

Nine News Presenter lashes out in 'catty' off-air wardrobe row

THERE’S a mole in the ranks and the Nine Network wants to flush them out.

According to a TV insider, “there will be a witch hunt” to find out who leaked that embarrassing video of Amber Sherlock demanding that her colleague Julie Snook put on a jacket so their white outfits didn’t clash.

News Corp understands the video was emailed around the Nine newsroom, before being leaked to Mumbrella.

“It was hugely embarrassing and Amber will be demanding answers,” the insider said to News Corp about the clip from Wednesday.

“There’s no doubt that leaking such a video could be a sackable offence. It made one of their star presenters look nuts and petty. I suspect the IT department will be currently investigating who emailed Mumbrella [where the footage first appeared] yesterday afternoon.”

The witch hunt could take some time though because a lot of people around the country had access to the footage.

“That was a studio output feed,” the insider explained.

“Cameras and microphones are often open during a commercial break so presenters can check their appearance and to ensure any guests outside of the main studio can be heard.

“It’s hard to know who would have leaked it because studio output feeds can often be accessed by affiliates around the country as well as an internal feed in Sydney.”

Whoever leaked the video either has a grudge against Sherlock or simply found the footage amusing and knew that such an exchange would go viral.

“People love watching what really happens behind the scenes as opposed to what happens once the commercial break ends,” the insider said.

Julie Snook eventually agreed to put on a jacket for her cross with Amber Sherlock and psychologist Sandy Rae.

“That was one of the reasons this clip worked so well — all of a sudden they’re all smiles and best buddies as if nothing had happened.”

And if you think this was an isolated incident, you’d be wrong.

“Amazingly, wardrobe is probably the most debated issue for presenters,” the insider said.

“I’ve seen some big tantrums about presenters being given similar outfits to colleagues. This is not a rarity. Some stars often claim the others are getting preferential treatment because they got to wear some brand or another. It’s all paranoid stuff but it sets them off.

“Producers often wish that some presenters cared as much about the content as they do about the colour of their top.”

Amber Sherlock addressed the incident to Nine Honey, admitting she “probably overreacted”.

“Live TV can be a pretty stressful beast, at times,” Sherlock said.

“It’s never much fun rocking up to work or to a party in the same outfit as one of your colleagues or friends. I probably overreacted with the pressure of presenting a live news bulletin.”

A spokesman for the Nine Network refused to comment this morning when contacted by news.com.au.

THE EXCHANGE

In the clip, which has made headlines around the world in the past 24 hours, Sherlock looked at the video feed in the studio monitor and realised just minutes before going to air that Julie Snook, herself and psychologist Sandy Rea were all wearing similar white outfits.

“I need Julie to put a jacket on because we’re all in white. I asked her before we came on — Julie, you need to put a jacket on,” a perturbed Sherlock demanded.

As Snook began to explain she just hadn’t had time to source a jacket before going into the studio, Sherlock cut her off: “Come on, I told you two hours ago.”

Sherlock then pulled her iPhone out and informed Snook she’d personally call the Nine wardrobe department to “get something”.

Fellow guest, Rea, could hear all this going down from her studio and looked appropriately uncomfortable with the exchange.

Rea tried to defuse the problem by suggesting she’d get a jacket herself.

“You’re fine Sandy but there can’t be three of us. And I made this clear two and a half hours ago,” Sherlock shot back while angrily thumbing at her iPhone.

Remaining calm, Snook tried to reason with her flustered colleague.

“Amber, if it’s an issue I can get on out of here (the studio),” she said.

“It is an issue. Go and grab a jacket,” Sherlock demanded. Snook pointed out she was actually wearing light blue and not white but this was all swings and roundabouts for Sherlock and the technicality annoyed her more.

She called out for a producer to find Snook a jacket and the passive aggressive back-and-forth continued.

Snook: “If there’s an issue I can just head on out and get back to work because I’m flat chat, I genuinely forgot.”

Sherlock: “Fine, jump on out, if that’s what you’d like to do.”

Snook: “Amber, please, this is not the only thing I’m doing today.”

Just before going live on air, Snook was given a black jacket and the three presenters donned their best fake smiles for the segment.
