Amazing Race contestant Ashley Ruscoe has confirmed she will not reunite with her race partner and ex-boyfriend Sidney Pierucci after he was charged with assaulting her last month.
News that Pierucci, 27, was slapped with an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order by police broke while the couple were still on the show, and at the time the pair were potentially trying to work things out.
But Ruscoe, labelled an “influencer” on the show but actually people and culture adviser for a top Australian fashion label, said the relationship is definitely over and she’s back on the market.
“We’re definitely broken up. He moved out. We’re still amicable but we’re taking it day by day,” she told Confidential at a Cole Hair x Bondi Boost launch.
“I’m definitely back on the scene. No dating apps, I don’t know how I feel about dating apps; I think you need to get the vibe in person, but definitely going out to parties. I’ve had a few DMs (direct messages). Guys are relentless, shameless, they just go for it. I love it.”
Pierucci appeared in court on November 6 and pleaded not guilty to assault and damaging property, which he was charged with after a late-night incident at their Bellevue Hill apartment on October 14.
“Police have charged a 27-year-old man following a domestic-related incident at Bellevue Hill,” a police statement read. “About 3am on Monday, 14 October 2019, police spoke to a woman in Birriga Street regarding an alleged domestic altercation. A man was arrested nearby and taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with assault and destroy/damage property.”
Ruscoe is now due to give evidence in court in February.
She said The Amazing Race did put a strain on their relationship, which was clear to viewers as Pierucci frequently lost his behaviour, but she still looked back on it fondly.
“It was a beautiful experience we had and there are no hard feelings,” she said.
“I just look at it as a really amazing experience, except for the parts where we’re arguing.
“I just knew that we weren’t meant to be; it wasn’t just The Race that brought on some of the difficulties.
“Definitely before there were cracks and we were on different pages on a lot of things so I do think it’s better going our separate ways.”
The pair were eliminated from the show last Tuesday, coming in sixth place overall and missing out on the $250,000 cash prize.
