The 17-year-old quit recently year 11 and has been doing work experience at construction company Paynter Dixon’s North Ryde offices — and the industry has piqued her interest.

“After being on the show (ANTM), I spent a few months working with my uncle in construction management,” FitzGerald said.

“It was such great work experience and I did it because it was the perfect opportunity to learn more about that industry.

“There are so many components to the construction industry, from interior design to admin to secretarial work to building. One day I would love to be part of the construction industry. There is definitely potential there one day, maybe after modelling.”

The Novocastrian’s interest in the unglamorous world of construction has been spurred on by local beauty and ANTM host Jennifer Hawkins, who ensured beauty was not her only asset.

Hawkins buys and develops properties along with the help of her builder husband Jake Wall.

“I thought it was a good idea to broaden my horizon beyond modelling because look at Jennifer Hawkins. She works with so many different businesses and has built her own brand. It is important to know how to run and own a brand and business and working with this company provided me with those life skills.”

However FitzGerald will soon finish up with Paynter Dixon and focus on making a name for herself in the world of modelling.

“I am currently in the process of moving to Sydney and once that happens, I will get to start working with an agency Priscilla’s.”
“Hopefully I get to go overseas and travel as a model.”
