AUSTRALIAN actor Alex Russell is set to join the high profile cast of action film Granite Mountain.

Russell join Miles Teller, Josh Brolin and Scott Haze on the feature film, which will be directed by Joseph Kosinski.

Filming of the movie — which is based on a true story of a group of firefighters who fought one of the deadliest wildfires in history to save an Arizona town — will kick off next week.

Russell, who is best known for his appearance in 2012 film Chronicle and the 2014 film Believe Me, has recently completed filming a number of feature films including Greg McLean’s Jungle which he shot with Daniel Radcliffe in Queensland and Iven Sen’s Goldstone which will have its’ world premiere at the Sydney Film Festival tonight.
