FORMER Home And Away actor Rebecca Breeds left the Channel 7 soap more than five years ago, but says there is never a day she doesn’t call on the training it provided her.
Breeds and her husband, fellow Home And Away alumni Luke Mitchell, have been busy carving out careers for themselves in America.
Breeds has starred in Pretty Little Liars and The Originals, while Mitchell scored plum roles in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Blindspot.
“I’ve starred in shows with Emmy-winning actors and I was so intimidated when I first walked on to set. But then I realised it’s just like Home And Away,” the New York-based Breeds said.
“It might be a bigger production but everyone just turns up, learns their lines — you’re just doing your job. Home And Away really trained me for the States.”
However, Breeds says heartbreak has come with the success.
“Just last week I was up for two jobs I didn’t get. You constantly juggle highs and low but my husband and I keep saying, ‘Are we having fun?’. If yes, we keep going. And if not, we will come home and open a cafe.”
Speaking of home, Breeds recently returned here to film Three Summers with Magda Szubanski, Michael Caton and Deborah Mailman.
“In school I went and saw Deb in a play and here I am now doing scenes with her. I haven’t lost perspective that I am working with people I’ve looked up to,” she said.
