Controversial reality star Abbie Chatfield has quit radio.

The outspoken media identity has made the announcement on social media, revealing she wants to focus more on television and her podcast.

“SO I QUIT RADIO!,” Chatfield wrote on Instagram, sharing a video of the announcement.

“Lol decided a little last minute after my break. My finale show is tonight!!!! I’m really happy with my decision and super proud of myself for letting this role go.

“I simply need to put my energy into projects that bring me joy and that energise me, rather than draining me. I’m looking forward to socialising with my friends and family as well!! Always a bonus.”

Chatfield took on the high-profile hosting gig weeknights at Sydney’s 2Day FM and nationally on the HIT network at the beginning of 2022. She was recently absent from the airwaves, sparking speculation as to what her future holds.

“It’s also time to give someone else a go who would enjoy and appreciate the opportunity more than myself,” she wrote.

“I have so much on, and daily radio takes up so much time. I simply wasn’t enjoying myself day to day in that environment.

“This was my decision entirely, and I’m so glad I made it. My podcast @itsalotpod remains with the network, I’ll still be hosting @fridayz_live. More time for the pod will be so good for me and for the listeners!!

“I still am planning on doing Australian Made every week, just in a slightly different way. I’m so passionate about Australian music that this was the main reason I didn’t quit earlier, so I’m glad I can take it with me.”

Chatfield clarified: “It’s entirely my decision, I’m super happy and I can’t wait to focus on the myriad of other projects I have coming up!!!!!!!”

Of Chatfield’s announcement, chief content officer for 2Day FM parent company, Southern Cross Austereo Dave Cameron, said: “For personal reasons, Abbie Chatfield has made the decision to step away from Hot Nights, her national radio show on the Hit Network. Abbie’s last show will be today (Thursday).

“We are pleased to say that Abbie will remain with SCA, and we look forward to continuing to support the ongoing growth of her extraordinarily successful podcast, It’s a Lot with Abbie Chatfield, published on LiSTNR.”

An announcement on Chatfield’s replacement will be made soon.

Chatfield, 28, rose to national fame as a contestant on The Bachelor when she vied for the affections of Matt Agnew in 2019.

She subsequently appeared on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! before landing a gig on the panel of The Masked Singer Australia and hosting FBoy Island Australia.

She is known for being vocal on issues important to her, from social media to LGBTQ rights, health and social affairs.
