Abbie Chatfield confirms open relationship with Konrad Bien-Stephens after secret tryst

Abbie Chatfield has made a bombshell revelation on her hit podcast: she’s in an open relationship with boyfriend Konrad Bien-Stephens after he slept with another woman.

Radio host Abbie Chatfield and her boyfriend Konrad Bien-Stephens have announced they are in an open relationship.

The couple, who went public in November, revealed they allow each other to hook up with other people and that Melbourne carpenter Bien-Stephens, 31, was recently intimate with another woman.

“First of all, we’re in love, we aren’t breaking up. Everyone, mummy and daddy aren’t breaking up we’re just having a different structure to our relationship,” Chatfield announced on her It’s A Lot podcast on Tuesday.

“People seem to get very angry or cry when we tell them.

“So we’re in an open relationship, which we love. I mean to be fair, I haven’t had sex with anyone yet which is annoying. You f***ed someone which is iconic.”

The couple, who have both been cheated on “a lot” in the past, explained that they are “open sexually” to other people “but not emotionally”.

Former Bachelorette runner-up Chatfield, 26, said while she is concerned about sexually transmitted infections after having contracted them in the past, she has “never valued monogamy” and is happy with their arrangement.

“I care about the lying and I care about getting STIs because of the lying” she said while adding “I have never ever, ever valued monogamy.”

Former Bachelorette contestant Bien-Stephens said while he enjoyed sleeping with another woman, he’s still in love with Chatfield. He also pointed out that while they are in an open relationship, there are boundaries.

“You can still cheat,” he said.

“There’s so much more to a relationship than just sex.”

Chatfield said she has “never” valued monogamy.

Bien-Stephens revealed he recently slept with another woman.

Chatfield said there are rules they follow.

“Rule number one is that you can’t f*** someone that you’ve f***ed before, so you can’t f*** an ex,” she said

“And we can’t f*** someone more than once unless we speak about it, it’s a grey area. Those are the basic rules and if we want to change the rules then we speak about it.”

The couple’s whirlwind romance has been captivating fans on social media ever since they were pictured kissing in Byron Bay last year.

The photos surfaced while Bien-Stephens was still a contestant on Brooke Blurton’s season of The Bachelorette which prompted criticism from Blurton, who was Chatfield’s best friend at the time.

Blurton accused the couple of ruining the show and called it “a very clear display of narcissism”.

Brooke Blurton and Abbie Chatfield are no longer best friends after Chatfield began dating Bien-Stephens, who was a contestant on Blurton’s season of The Bachelorette.

“Everyone who watched the show, or was on the show cast and/or working as crew, will know that I put my heart and soul into it and it meant a lot for me to open myself up so vulnerably like that,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Not only that but for what it meant for the LGBTQIA+ and First Nations community to have that display of representation.

“...For that to be tainted ONCE again 1. To what I thought was a close friend, 2. Another white woman displaying what privilege looks like. 3. A very clear display of narcissism. Hurts me. Literally pains me.”

Chatfield publicly apologised and wrote, “I now understand that the timing of publicly sharing our relationship should have been more considered and that is my fault.”
