Abbie Chatfield calls it as it is on FBoy Island

Abbie Chatfield has wrapped production on BINGE reality TV series, FBoy Island. Never one to mince her words, she will not be holding back when the show launches this year.

Abbie Chatfield won’t be mincing her words on new reality show FBoy Island.

“We are calling them what they are,” Chatfield told The Daily Telegraph on set of the reality show. “I feel like the show itself, in calling Fboys what they are is calling out the poor behaviour. The whole point of the show is that when people do things that are a bit cooked, I call them out in real time.”

Chatfield, who has the word “feminist” tattooed on her arm, this week wrapped filming the series that will air on BINGE later this year.

The format has been a big success in the US, but is new to Aussies with FBoy Island a 10-part reality series that will follow three women as they attempt to find love.

The women must choose a partner from the 24 suitors, half of whom are Fboys, or players, and the other half being genuinely in it for love.

Unlike other dating shows, FBoy Island will lean into the humour of the situation.

“We are not The Bachelor or Love Island, and we are not pretending to be a political documentary about feminism,” Chatfield said.

“But as far as reality shows go and the scope of that, it is pretty feminist as we call out the FBoys constantly and the women are in control. We do it in a humorous way and we are not pretending to be a serious show. Everyone knows what they are getting into. It is like we are all in on the joke.”

To anyone that may be offended by the concept, Chatfield said: “The show is funny and light hearted but there are real emotions. I think people will be surprised. If you think you are going to be offended, you don’t have to watch it. It is just a really fun, silly show.”

Of her own love life, former Bachelor contestant Chatfield, who identifies as queer, has vowed to stay single for the coming year.

“I don’t have the best track record,” she said. “Not FBoys, I just date men who are accidentally manipulative, undercommunicative, and then that makes me feel shit. I am dating, the roster is full. I am still seeing people but just not getting into a relationship.”
