A SYDNEY paparazzo who some say knows the outcome of popular dating reality TV show The Bachelor has attempted to put $10,000 down on the outright winner, however was rebuffed by the betting agency who has put an $80 limit on the bet.
Now, Sportsbet are refusing to refund him the substantial $10,000 deposit.
“I tried to bet $10,000 but the system wouldn’t allow it,” the pap who did not wish to be named told Confidential.
“The maximum it will allow you to bet on the outright winner is $80.
“My message to them is place the bet, or refund the money. What other betting environment do you find the rules change on you when your chips are on the table? This is the best sure thing since Black Caviar’s last race at Randwick, only on that occasion Sportsbet was happy to take wagers with many more zeros in them than mine.”
A spokesman for the betting agency said they do have a betting cap on non-live events such as The Bachelor and MasterChef as they are seen as “novelty betting”.
“Customers generally only stake smaller amounts on novelty markets in comparison to sport and racing,” Sportsbet media spokesman Will Byrne said.

“Offering these markets is about fun and entertainment value as they are markets requested from the public. Markets such as The Voice or X Factor (where there is no known result due to public voting) don’t follow the same procedure.”
He added that it is currently a close race between three of the favourites.
“It’s a very close race in the betting to say the least,” Byrne said.
“Alex, Megan and Nikki, who are the front three in the betting, have all had near equal amounts of money placed on them.”
