Steph Claire Smith tells podcast story about sex toy getting stuck

Fitness influencer Steph Claire Smith has copped criticism after sharing a story about a mishap with a marital aid. Do you think she went too far? Get the details here.

Fitness and lifestyle influencer Steph Claire Smith has copped backlash over a recent podcast detailing a mishap with a marital aid.

This is a family newspaper, so Confidential will spare you the more gory details from the episode of KICPOD with Smith and co-host Laura Henshaw, but it is fair to say the discussion had listeners split down the middle.

Smith was describing an intimate incident involving her husband and a toy becoming momentarily, well, stuck — because she was laughing too hard to relax her body and remove it.

“It’s not like, I hadn’t lost it, but I just went with it, it’s going to have to stay up there, I’d let go of it, it’s just going to stay there,” Smith said.

“There’s no way I’m pulling it out now. I got on top, we both had a great time, finished, the (blank) is still up my (blank), still poking out.”

“I had to stand in the shower and I could not stop laughing — and when you laugh you’re all tense so I couldn’t get it out. It lasted quite a few minutes.”

In a teaser posted to Instagram, Clare wrote: “If you know me or work with me, please skip this segment of the podcast.”

However, not all listeners enjoyed the tale.

“Literally doing anything to attract attention now,” one commented.

“I feel like you guys have been trying too hard to capture people’s attention about the podcast … I’m not a hater I promise, this is just my point of view.”

One comment, which has since been deleted, accused the pair of deviating from their fitness and lifestyle brand and attempting to emulate American podcaster Alex Cooper of Call Her Daddy.

“I wouldn’t call talking about a ‘taboo topic’ like sex (which we’ve done many times before’ anything,” Smith responded.

“Plus attention in a way is the idea, if we weren’t getting anyone’s attention with content or eps, we wouldn’t be very good at our jobs.”

Other listeners leapt to the pair’s defence in the comments.

“Its disappointing that sharing an honest story about a healthy sex life can be seen as attention-seeking when stories like this work toward breaking down the shame that many still feel around sexuality,” one commenter said.

“Encouraging open conversations allows people to feel empowered to explore and embrace sex positivity without guilt.

“When society dictates what is ‘acceptable’ for women to share, it perpetuates the idea that women’s sexual expression should be hidden or downplayed.”
