Stars wear even wilder outfits to Met Gala afterparties

If you thought the outfits at the Met Gala were wild, just wait until you see what celebs wore (or rather, didn’t) to the afterparties.

Met Gala 2023: All the best and wildest looks from the red carpet

If you thought this year’s Met Gala outfits were outrageous, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

While many celebs opted for tasteful attire in keeping with this year’s theme – a tribute to late, iconic fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld – it seems all bets were off when it came to the Met afterparties.

Celebs including Olivia Wilde, Emily Ratajkowski and Kendall Jenner wore sheer, revealing outfits to party the night away after formalities were over.

But the night ended on a sour note for at least one celeb, with Kylie Jenner reportedly barred from entering club owner Richie Akiva, Doja Cat and Diddy’s party because it was overcrowded.

“They wouldn’t let her in,” a witness told Page Six. “They shut the door down because it was over capacity.”

Kylie’s sister Kendall and her rumoured boyfriend were inside the party - but Kylie gave up after being among the 100-odd people stuck outside in “chaotic” scenes.

Here are some of the highlights from those who could get into the Met Gala afterparties …

And finally, Kim Kardashian, who kept her Met Gala outfit on for the afterparty but perhaps shouldn’t have: The fragile, pearl-covered ensemble looked to be disintegrating by the minute.

Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez took her lookalike little sister Lynda as her date to the Stella McCartney and Baz Luhrmann-hosted Met afterparty, with journalist and broadcaster Lynda dubbing the event a “Mama’s night out”.

Earlier, stunt-happy pop star Lil Nas X arrived at the Met Gala wearing nothing but a G-string and a lot of body paint, while actor Jared Leto disappeared inside a giant furry animal suit to pay tribute to Lagerfeld’s beloved feline, Choupette.

Oscar-winning actress Jessica Chastain turned heads with her new look, a tribute to Lagerfeld’s own distinctive personal style that rendered the usually red-headed actress truly unrecognisable.
