It has been a cracking radio ratings survey for Ben Fordham.
The popular talkback host remains king of Sydney radio with a whopping share of 17.1 per cent of the all important breakfast market.
His 2GB show jumped 1.6 percentage points in the latest GfK ratings for 2022, the fifth of eight released in the year.
“Wow, that is a huge result for 2GB,” Fordham told Confidential.
“Sydney has put its faith in us and we’re honoured to have that support. Our radio station started on air 96 years ago today so it is great timing to have these strong results. Almost 100 years after 2GB started broadcasting, the brand is stronger than ever. Keep listening because the best is yet to come.”
Elsewhere in breakfast, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson came in second with a share of 12.5 per cent, down 0.8 of a percentage point on the last survey result.
ABC Sydney followed with a 9.9 per cent share (down 0.4), ahead of WSFM duo Brendan Jonesy Jones and Amanda Keller at 7.7 per cent (down 0.3), smoothFM at 6.8 (down 0.4) and Nova 96.9s Ryan Fitzy Fitzgerald and Michael Wippa Wipfli with 6.5 per cent share (up 0.3).
Dave Hughes, Erin Molan and Ed Kavalee on beleaguered station 2Day FM held steady unchanged at 3.6 per cent.
Picking up from Ben Fordham on 2GB at 9am mornings is long-time market leader Ray Hadley with a share of 17.2 per cent (up 0.3).
Across all stations, WSFM had the biggest decline of the survey with a total share of 7.5 per cent, a decline of 1.2 percentage points.
2GB came in top station yet again with a share of 13.6 per cent of the total market, a rise of 0.7 of a percentage point. Next came KIIS 106.5 at 10.1 per cent (down 0.1), smoothfm 95.3 at 9.7 per cent (up 0.1), and ABC Sydney at eight per cent (up 0.1).
This comes as insiders tip former Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield is being primed by 2Day FM to salvage its breakfast show, which has seen a huge ratings decline since Kyle and Jackie O moved to KIIS.
