American podcasters Tana Mongeau and Brooke Schofield have never been ones to hold back how they feel- and now they’ve set their sights on making one of our biggest influencers the butt of their jokes.
Set to hit Sydney in July, the duo behind the Cancelled podcast and its millions of followers say they’re rubbing their two cents and coming for the Aussie influencer feud which recently made worldwide headlines between TikToker Anna Paul who boasts six million followers and Mikaela Testa who has 2.6 million.
The feud came a light after Testa posted a video online accusing Paul of lying about being poor and using her fans for a ‘”plot for profit”.
Paul responded with a video denying the claims, which cost her the loss of one million followers.
“Let’s put them in a room, like two beta fish,” Mongeau said.
“It’s just a wild situation and scenario. There’s going to be a million things no one knows and that’s their personal, interwoven drama, but I’d love to unpack it.
“I’m excited to make Anna Paul jokes on stage and maybe dance under the Opera House.“
Known for their unapologetically candid, messy, and rogue personalities, the duo is ready to embrace some Aussie gossip as they head to our shores for the first time, declaring that “the hottest people in the world are Australian.”
“We are so ready. The girlies are so wild and crazy over there and we’re going to be doing a shoey as soon as we can,” Mongeau said.
“There’s just something about being so far away from home that feels like I can truly expose anyone or say anything.
“I think it’s one of the most beautiful places on planet earth. Especially the energy there and just with our fan base is so special and different to anywhere else.”
Schofield added, “All the hottest people in the world are Australian, and I can’t wait.”
Mongeau, 26 and Schofield, 29, have made waves around the world with The Cancelled Podcast, where they sit on a couch and gossiping about their lives.
Their candid approach to gossip — name-dropping, sharing juicy details from their inner circle, and diving into the LA influencer and party scene, and now they are bringing it to Sydney in July.
While Mongeau is a frequent visitor to Australia, this will be Schofield’s first time.
She’s especially excited to meet real Australians, after Schofield last year claimed she was catfished by Filipino singer Clinton Kane, alleging he faked an Australian accent and pretended to be from Perth during their tumutluous relationship.
Kane rejected the claims at the time.
“I think I have so many stories from Australia that I’ve never told and Brooke has (stories from her relationship with Kane) she’s never shared,” Mongeau said.
Despite the podcast’s name, the girls don’t have no plans to get “cancelled” (a term popular with Gen Z that refers to the public withdrawal of support for a person, usually a celebrity).
“With cancel culture it’s almost like everyone gets cancelled and this year I honestly hope no one does,” Schofield said.
The duo’s “sister-like” dynamic has kept them grounded.
“We’ve just grown so much over the years, learning each other’s communication styles and how to respect each other’s feelings,” Mongeau said
“It’s also incredibly humbling that, after all these years, people still want to come to our shows.”
The Cancelled Podcast world tour will hit Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on July 27 and 28. After tickets sold out quickly, extra shows were added nation-wide with new tickets on sale now.
