Taika Waititi is back in action and Sydney has a front-row seat.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker is switching things up as he steps in front of the camera with an acting role in Place to Be, a movie being shot at Disney Studios Australia in Moore Park.
He was also spotted and photographed filming at Central Station early afternoon on Saturday.
Married to pop singer Rita Ora, the 49-year-old was spotted holding a pigeon on set during filming for director Kornél Mundruczó’s upcoming project on Thursday.
A camera crew followed his every move as he ran barefoot down the street, dressed in a burgundy button-up shirt and black jeans.
Waititi will be sharing the screen with a stellar cast, including Pamela Anderson and Ellen Burstyn.
Place to Be tells the story of an unlikely bond between an elderly woman, played by Burstyn, and a middle-aged man, portrayed by Waititi.
Together, they embark on a journey from Chicago to New York to return a lost racing pigeon to its home.
While filming has just begun and will continue well into April, Waititi and Ora have been making the most of their time in Australia.
The couple has been in the country since January, with Ora filming the live-action sci-fi film Voltron alongside Henry Cavill and Sterling K. Brown on the Gold Coast.
The pair tied the knot in a private outdoor ceremony in Los Angeles in August 2022 and seem to be relishing their time Down Under.
Ora shared a snapshot of the couple’s dinner outing on Wednesday night on social media.
Captioned “picking wine is a skill”, her post featured Waititi engrossed in a drinks menu.
