NICK Cave and the Bad Seeds will tour Australia in January — in what will be a real return home.

The tour will include a stop in Ballarat, home town of Bad Seed Warren Ellis and a two-hour drive from Nick Cave’s birthplace Warracknabeal.

The tour, supporting the band’s 16th album Skeleton Tree, will start at Hobart’s Derwent Entertainment Centre on Friday January 13.

They play Ballarat’s North Gardens on Sunday January 15, then two Sydney Festival shows at the ICC Sydney Theatre on January 20 and 21.

The tour heads to Newcastle Entertainment Centre on January 22, Brisbane Riverstage on January 25, Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on January 27 and 28, Adelaide Entertainment Centre on January 29 and Perth Arena January 31.

Most shows will see the Bad Seeds supported by the Necks — except Hobart, Adelaide and Perth.

A press release states the tour will be “their biggest and boldest production ever.”

Tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow from nickcave.com

The site also has details on a second cinema run for the documentary One More Time With Feeling on December 1. The documentary explores the effect of the death of Cave’s son Arthur who fell from a cliff at Ovingdean, near Brighton, England, and died from his injuries.

Over 125,000 people in 30 countries bought tickets for the movie, by director Andrew Dominik, when it aired in cinemas on September 8.

Skeleton Tree entered the ARIA chart at No. 1 last month.
