Elsa Pataky to star in Netflix blockbuster movie filming in Sydney

Elsa Pataky is set to cut Chris Hemsworth’s superhero grass with a new Netflix movie being filmed in Australia, which she’s been training hard for.

Elsa Pataky is about to start filming her new film Interceptor in Sydney.

Exclusive: More over, Thor – wife Elsa Pataky is coming to cut your superhero grass and the pistol-packin’ mama has got the killer muscles to show for it.

Mrs Chris Hemsworth will star in new Netflix blockbuster, Interceptor, filming in Sydney later this month – playing the kick-butt woman set to save the world from 16 nuclear missiles, at times with her bare hands.

In her first interview since the Ambience Entertainment production was announced, Pataky told News Corp both her actor husband and their three kids had been wowed by her action prowess – even rehearsing trick moves with a toy pistol in between house work.

“I brought home a toy gun to practise with and was showing my kids a fight I have to do and they were really excited. Especially my daughter [India Rose], who has two brothers who keep telling her ‘we’re stronger than you’ and she says ‘no way!’ She can now see in what ways she can be stronger,” Pataky said.

Best-selling Aussie author Matthew Reilly, who will make his directorial debut at the helm of his own screenplay, predicts Pataky could eclipse her husband.

“I hope that when I’m done, Elsa is the biggest action star in the Hemsworth household,” Reilly joked, adding “[Chris] has been nothing but supportive of her and the opportunity it presents … this role really suits her.”

In yet another boost to the local film industry, Reilly was drawn back to Sydney from his base in Los Angeles, where production remains slow to recover from the COVID-19 crisis.

“It’s not the kind of movie that usually gets made in Australia,” he said, adding “the action starts from the first frame and the plan is that it doesn’t let up for another 100 minutes.”

Pataky said starting a turf war with her husband, as an action hero, has long been a dream.

“I love it and have always wanted to be involved in a real bad ass action movie. Of course I ask my husband things, but he’s a pro already,” she said, beaming.

“We are very competitive and always trying to see who can beat the other. Sometimes I win, sometimes he does … it depends on what it is,” she laughed.

To hold her own, the Spanish model has been in tactical and fight training for months, before filming begins on March 29 at the former ABC studios in Artarmon.

Dying her blonde hair for the project, Pataky said she was ready to go from the moment producers sent her the script last year.

“There’s not a lot of strong female characters, who are confident, can kick arse and save the world. We’re always waiting for the men to save us, but now, it’s like, we can do it too,” she said proudly.

“I am very physical and the whole movie is very physical and I love it,” Pataky explained. “I have been into sports my whole life, riding motorcycles, so I want to do all the action myself and show strong women can fight a guy and come out on top.”

Meanwhile, as Chris films his latest Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, at Fox Studios, Pataky admits she’s nervous about juggling two acting schedules and three school-aged kids.

While the family were largely cosseted from the effects of the pandemic, bunkering down at their expansive estate in the Byron Bay hinterland, work has brought them all to Sydney.

“It’s the first time we are both working at the same time and that’s a bit hard for me to digest, with the kids. but I think it’s good for them to see their mum working too and be proud of me in a way.”

Interceptor, co-starring Luke Bracey, Aaron Glenane and Zoe Carides, is expected to be released in cinemas in Australia later this year, and streamed internationally on Netflix.
