‘Resented’: Blake Lively’s resurfaced confession sparks backlash amid Justin Baldoni battle

Blake Lively made a wild confession in 2022 that fans have claimed appears to support some of Justin Baldoni’s claims against the star.

Blake Lively is facing backlash over a resurfaced clip where she confesses to regularly “taking over” movie sets despite just being hired as an actress.

During the Forbes Power Women’s Summit in 2022, the Hollywood star admitted that previous directors have ended up “resenting” her behaviour.

The comments have resurfaced amid Lively’s feud with director Justin Baldoni, who has alleged similar on-set behaviour from the former Gossip Girl star in his lawsuit.

“When I went into meetings, I would just seem like I’m just there to be the actor and ready to get the gig,” Lively told the audience. “I wouldn’t reveal that I actually need to have authorship in order to feel fulfilled. So I think that for them, sometimes that might have felt like a rug pulled because you’re like, you’re trying to assert yourself into something that we didn’t hire you to do.”

Lively acknowledged that she believes it’s sometimes important to stand up for projects she feels strongly about, even if it’s not her place to do so.

“It’s just as important to say, ‘OK, um, I believe in this and that’s why I’m standing up for it and that’s why I’m not being difficult,” she continued. “And then there are other moments to go, ‘Am I the a – hole in the room?’”

Fans rushed to comment on the clip on social media, with many believing it could spell disaster for Lively.

“Blake Lively’s PR crisis is about to get a lot worse and will likely cost her hundreds of millions of dollars. This shows Lively admitting to misrepresenting herself, and confirms what Justin Baldoni and others have said about her true motives. I don’t see any way she recovers from this,” remarked one.

A second commented: “If they hired her to be an actor—be the actor. Period. You can’t just walk into a place and take over. She’s cooked.”

“Girl needs to figure out the solar system doesn’t revolve around her. I suspect folks from other productions (in) which she has been involved will begin openly speaking out against her,” replied another X user.

However, others remarked that the clip wasn’t the “gotcha” moment some claimed it might be.

“Look – I’m not her fan but I honestly don’t see why people think this is a gotcha,” insisted another X user. “This is a non-starter. She’s basically saying she wanted to add more to the process and sometimes it worked and sometimes not And she couldn’t always come out and say that she wanted to add more.”
