There’s no denying the well-chiseled men of Magic Mike Live will spend a large part of the show missing a shirt when they hit the stage in Sydney come December, but two of its stars promise this is much more than a glorified strip show.
After lengthy delays caused by the enduring COVID-19 pandemic, the ‘dance spectacular’ created by Hollywood star Channing Tatum will finally open in the world’s largest Spiegeltent on December 17 at Moore Park’s Entertainment Quarter.
Anthony and Charlie Bartley returned home from their base in Los Angeles to join the cast of the show, which has already had sold out seasons in Las Vegas, London and Berlin. They’re keen to

“You step into the world and you are immersed in another world that doesn’t feel like reality, it feels like you’ve been teleported to somewhere else and for 90 minutes it’s this unexpected ride,” Anthony adds. “It’s not just 15 good looking guys with abs, there’s a really interesting and compelling story that is the throughline of the show.”
Tatum, who conceived the idea after the box office success of movies Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL — which were based loosely on his life as a teenage stripper in Florida — said he had been thinking of an Australian show since they opened in the US.
“The morning after we opened our first production in Vegas four years ago, we all talked about the crazy idea of someday putting Magic Mike Live in a tent and traveling around Australia,” he said.
“The fact that it’s actually happening now is mind-blowing to me. The tent and this new version of the show is more than I ever imagined it could be and I can’t wait for our fans in Australia to see what we’ve created especially for them.”
