Married At First Sight bride Selin has claimed “husband” Anthony pressured her to sleep together on their wedding night.

Breaking down in tears on Kyle and Jackie O on Monday, Selin addressed the backlash she’s received from viewers, sobbing as she said she “knows she looks like a b**ch” on the show but she was in “protective mode”.

“It’s just not fair that I’m dealing with this backlash when I said ‘No’. I said ‘no’ to a few things and he persisted. I’ve gone into protective mode and it’s really hard,” she began.

“On the wedding night I asked not to sleep in the same bed because I didn’t want to. I’m not that type of person. It’s OK for people to be like that but I just didn’t feel comfortable and he persisted and they persisted,” she said, not clarifying who she meant by “they”.

“I said ‘no’ … and he continued to do so,” she added, going on to recall him telling her it was “not a big deal”.

“’We need to do it, we need to do it, it’s not a big deal,’ all this stuff. I even went to the extent of building a pillow fort.

“I didn’t want to, I offered to sleep on the couch.”

Responding to the allegation, a spokesperson at Channel 9 said: “There is never any pressure put on participants in regards to sleeping arrangements.

“Nine and Endemol Shine takes its obligations in respect to the health and wellbeing of the participants of this program extremely seriously. All participants have access to the show psychologist during filming, during broadcast and once the program has ended,” the statement continued.

“Nine also have an additional service for participants should they like or need further individual and confidential psychological support. This service gives participants access to clinicians who have been specifically engaged to support those involved in the program in relation to their experiences.

“This service is available to all participants for as long as they need it, it does not end”.

Both Anthony and Selin chose to stay during Sunday’s commitment ceremony after Anthony apologised for storming off whenever an argument breaks out between them.

“I do keep coming back, I sort of walk off sometimes,” he said. “If that made her feel like sh*t, that was not my intention. I am sorry for that.”

Elsewhere, the experts slammed Selin for “demeaning” her husband after he said he felt “disrespected” by her calling him a “princess”.

“He feels like you’re making fun of him, which is kind of demeaning and it puts him down,” Mel Schilling was quick to assert.

“He’s showing vulnerability, which is one of the most courageous things you can do in a relationship.”

Last week, Selin alleged Anthony dropped his gentlemanly act when the cameras stopped rolling, and that her hostility towards him was just her “sticking up for myself”.

While there is little information about MAFS consent process, according to Abbie Chatfield in 2020, all contestants on Channel 10’s Bachelor in Paradise are required to provide verbal consent in front of producers before sleeping together.
