One of Australia’s biggest influencers is hiding behind a mask, literally, following backlash over her latest cosmetic surgery.
Indy Clinton, 29, recently underwent a rhinoplasty procedure following a nose injury in 2020, but with two million TikTok followers she has been overwhelmed with “relentless” criticism leading her to wear a face mask on social media to conceal her nose.
While Clinton chose not to comment on the backlash in hopes to “not fuel the fire”, at two-weeks post surgery she appeared audibly upset about the ongoing hate as she broke down to tears.
“It keeps me up at night,” Clinton told Confidential.
“No I’m not wearing a face mask, it was just a joke.
“People love to comment on anything I do.”
While Clinton has since deleted the video of her nose reveal she posted to TikTok on Saturday, the mother of three is continuing to post on Instagram.
“I’m just going to focus on my kids and work offline so I can keep supporting them,” she said.
“I’m so over the hate.”
It comes after several comments on the video criticised Clinton.
“She just ruined her face,” a user commented.
“OK weird – Michael Jackson vibes now. Don’t get me wrong, been there done that (Rhinoplasty) Yet for someone so transparent … can’t even ‘hear’ the content because of your obscurity,” another said.
“Honest opinion stop with the surgeries your nose was more than fine.”
Clinton gained influencer fame at just 16, but it was becoming a mother nearly four years ago that truly skyrocketed her platform, with her TikTok vlogs amassing over one million views daily.
The influencer first announced her decision to undergo rhinoplasty in February, a month before the surgery in an effort to remain “transparent” with her followers.
“I’m doing it for myself,” Clinton said in a TikTok.
“I went to duck dive a wave and there was a lifeguard coming in on a surf rescue board.
“He lost control. He let go of (the board). As I was duck diving, the board came and hit me in the nose.”
Clinton stated that the injury affected the ridge between the cartilage and the bone of her nose, and she opted to undergo rhinoplasty.
