Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, of Velvet Goldmine, The Tudors and Match Point fame, has arrived in Australia to shoot new thriller The Room Below.
The Room Below is from Australian writer/director Kurt Martin, who had his cinematic feature film debut with 2019’s Moon Rock for Monday.
Meyers is set to co-star with Australian model-turned-actor Alyssa Sutherland in the film that tells the story of an expectant mother and children’s book author who starts behaving suspiciously when a boy resembling her dead son disappears.
Filming, reports Variety, was set to get underway this month with the movie co-produced by Byron Bay-based Lunar Pictures.
LA-based Sutherland has returned home for the production. The actor, 42, will be familiar to Australian fashion fans who may recall that after winning a 1997 Girlfriend magazine model competition, she found fame as a Vogue cover girl, She has appeared in campaigns for Bulgari, Ralph Lauren, Garnier and a host of others.
Sutherland is enjoying a moment thanks to her turn in 2023’s Evil Dead Rise.
