A Home and Away star with a “huge media presence” launched an explosive tirade after a story was published about his twin brother’s domestic violence conviction.
Jesse Shilling, the brother of actor Kyle Shilling, was last week sentenced for smashing a guitar over a woman’s head during a cowardly domestic violence attack.
Jesse, a Coffs Harbour park ranger, launched the vicious assault on his ex-partner, leaving a “large amount of blood” on her body, the furniture and the floor.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one charge of assault while a charge of intentionally choking was withdrawn.
For the two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one charge of assault, Jesse was convicted and sentenced to an 18-month community correction order.
In the same sentencing at Coffs Harbour Court last Tuesday, he was convicted over a separate assault against a neighbour.
There is no suggestion Kyle Shilling had anything to do with either incident, nor was he charged with any wrongdoing.
But after this masthead published an article on Jesse’s court appearance and sentencing, Kyle , who plays Mali Hudson on the long-running Channel 7 soap, sent more than 20 messages demanding the coverage be removed and that it was “false news”.
“Remove your latest story right now. This is false news. Take it down. Now,” Shilling wrote.
When it was pointed out to Shilling the article was based on a court matter and police facts, he responded: “That doesn’t matter. This is my brother’s private life.”
“Please do not ignore me as this is serious and I will have it taken further if you do not take it down.”
The Seven star and YouTube rapper then made a reference to his employer, saying: “If it does not get taken down I will take it further. I am with a major company who will gladly take this further.”
He then claimed this masthead was out to “make Indigenous people look bad”.
“I have a huge media presence and will have you guys slammed for this,” he added.
“Just remove it now.
“Remove it now or like I said, I will take this further. Take it down now.
“Why you got to do this. You’re low lives.”
When contacted for comment, a Channel 7 spokesman said: “This is a personal matter and we won’t be making any comment.”
The Shilling brothers grew up in Taree and Pottsville on the Mid-North and North Coast of New South Wales.
It comes as Kyle’s on-screen role is set to heat up this week, with his Summer Bay character Mali set to strike up a romance with troubled newcomer Abigail in the show’s season finale this Wednesday.
With on-screen chemistry blooming, viewers got a sneak peek of an unexpected kiss between the two, but there’s more to come, according to Kyle.
Earlier speaking of the surprise pairing, he told Confidential: “Let’s eliminate the expectations and let’s give (audiences) the hottest new couple of 2025.”
