Thousands of Katy Perry fans were stunned after a concertgoer stormed the stage at her Sydney show on Monday night.
Multiple security guards had to forcibly remove the fan from the stage at Qudos Bank Arena during Perry’s hit song Hot N Cold.
The man approached Perry, grabbing her around the shoulders, before she pulled a face and moved away – he then began to perform a dance known as ‘flossing’.
One onlooker said they “thought it was part of the show” before Perry remarked that it had been “an eventful 20 minutes”.
A content creator who has dubbed himself ‘Pyjama Man’, or Johnson Wen, alleged on Instagram that he was the stage invader.
In 2021 he was fined $200 for running onto the field during the third State of Origin game in Brisbane and in 2023 Wen entered the pitch at the ICC Cricket World Cup in India, evading security to grab Virat Kohli.
Wen struck again in October 24 when he ran onto the stage during the Weeknd’s Melbourne show.
His latest stunt prompted criticism – “Jobless behaviour,” one person said on Instagram, with others adding: “Stop hugging strangers. Doesn’t matter if they’re a celebrity” and “Security is getting fired”.
Monday’s show was Perry’s second at Qudos Bank Arena as part of her Lifetimes Tour, with a third scheduled for Tuesday.
