Prince Harry is now feeling “embarrassed and awkward” after the explosive Oprah interview, a royal expert has claimed.
They think he will regret his decision to walk away from the royal family and has been left “nostalgic for his old life”, according to a report in The Sun.
Duncan Larcombe, author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story, knew the Duke of Sussex after spending ten years as a royal editor.
He said the Duke has a history of being “hot-headed” and used the bombshell US chat to air frustrations from his wife’s experience with the royal family.
The expert told Closer magazine: “Harry was clearly hurt and angry about Meghan’s experience with the royals – and used the interview to get it out.
“But after returning home, I’ve no doubt he’s been feeling embarrassed, regretful and awkward,” Larcombe said.
“He’s now facing the consequences. I believe he’ll regret that interview – and maybe his decision to leave the royal family.”
“He’s in for a very difficult ride. There could be tough times ahead.”
It comes after the Sussexes’ tell-all chat with Oprah Winfrey sent shockwaves through Buckingham Palace.
Meghan claimed Archie wasn’t made a prince after “concerns and conversations” about “how dark” his skin would be when he was born.
She also revealed she had felt suicidal and “didn’t want to be alive anymore” after joining the royals.
‘HOT-HEADED’
Larcombe also told of a time when Prince Harry “flew off the handle” at Peter Phillip’s bachelor party, after the former royal editor had worked out an agreement with the Duke and Prince William to cover it.
He said Prince William had invited him for a drink in the garden but Prince Harry thought he had snuck in.
He said: “He’s a hot-headed guy, he acts on his emotions.
“He saw red and we had a row – but after William explained, he calmed down, apologised and we had a beer.”
Prince Harry flew back to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral this month, after the Duke of Edinburgh died aged 99.
He was reportedly “shocked” by the frosty reception from some of the members of his family.
And an expert said: “Some quarters of the family did give him a frosty reception and perhaps that did shock him somewhat.
“I read that some quarters of the royal family literally just blocked him and didn’t even talk to him.”
Prince Harry is due to return to the UK for an unveiling of a statue for his mother, the late Princess Diana.
The brothers announced the commission of the statue two years ago on the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.
Millions of people around the world will hope Prince Harry’s planned return home will be another positive step towards his reunion with his family.
Seeming rifts deepened further with the airing of Prince Harry and Meghan’s explosive two-hour interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.
Prince William is said to have been deeply hurt by a series of claims made during the bombshell chat.
