Natalie Portman has revealed Chris Hemsworth was forced to hide behind a tree during a chaotic school pick-up in Sydney.

In a new interview on US television, the Oscar-winning actress, who plays Jane Foster in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder, said her children attended the same school as Hemsworth’s three kids during filming in Australia.

And while Portman, 41, is certainly no stranger to attracting attention wherever she goes, she told Jimmy Kimmel Live guest host Sean Hayes it was much more difficult for Hemsworth to go incognito.

“One day, we ended up at school pick up at the same time and I just felt so bad for him,” Portman began.

She added: “Because I’m small and can kind of camouflage with the mums. And then he comes in, he’s like a Greek god walking through.

“He’s really famous everywhere but especially in Australia, he’s so, so well-known.

“So to see him kind of by the tree, hiding … It felt like some weird sitcom of the superheroes at school pick-up.”

Hemsworth, 38, shares three children with wife Elsa Pataky: India Rose, 10, and twins Tristan and Sasha, 8.

The uber-famous family is based in Byron Bay, but Portman suggested Hemsworth’s children attended school in Sydney during filming.

Meanwhile, Portman based her family in Sydney for almost a year so she could shoot the Taika Waititi-directed movie, which was in production from September 2020 through to mid-2021.

The Israeli-US actress, who shares two children Aleph, 11, and Amalia, 5, with husband Benjamin Millepied, was regularly spotted enjoying the laid-back lifestyle the Harbour City had to offer.

Portman was sighted at Bondi Beach, the Blue Mountains, a pub in Sydney and even in Russell Crowe’s box at a South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League match.

There were rumours swirling the couple were potentially looking at buying a house down under, though they’ve since relocated back to the US.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits cinemas July 7.
