Hollywood superstars invade NRL derby at Sydney Olympic Park

A cluster of Hollywood icons, including Chris Hemsworth, were spotted at Friday’s NRL grudge-match — and they all picked sides.

As assortment of Marvel superstars have been spotted at Friday evening’s NRL match between the Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs in Homebush.

Hollywood icons Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Natalie Portman and Taika Waititi were watching on from Russell Crowe’s box at Stadium Australia, barracking for the Bunnies in the Sydney derby.

Goldblum, Portman and Hemsworth donned some South Sydney merchandise to prove their loyalty to Crowe’s franchise.

And much to their excitement, the Rabbitohs trounced their bitter rivals in the round three clash.

Hemsworth was also seen going behind the scenes inside the Rabbitohs’ dressing rooms after the game, joining in with the celebrations.

Star South Sydney recruit Josh Mansour also posted a photo of players posing for photos with the 37-year-old.

The quartet of stars have been filming an upcoming Marvel movie in Sydney since late January, with Thor: Love and Thunder scheduled to hit theatres in 2022.

Production is expected to pump $178 million into the local economy, create 2500 jobs and use the services of 1650 Australian businesses.

The fourth Thor film is written and directed by Oscar-winner Waititi — the New Zealander is famous for his work on cult classics What We Do In The Shadows and Jojo Rabbit.

Hollywood stars Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Matt Damon and Chris Pratt will also feature in the superhero flick.

Last month, Hemsworth and Pratt were spotted filming the Thor movie at Centennial Park, pictured in their costumes for the first time.
